Both Uffe and I grew up with dogs. Already in the 50's not knowing each other, we had each a German shepherd bitch in the family, but for Uffe breeding dogs started in the 70's.

We received the prefix Nocturnes on utilitarian qualification, under the 70's and the 80's you had to qualify to get a prefix. 1978 I bought
Nocturnes Dina, a 7 month old G-shepherd bitch from Ulf Klöverbäck and even
then was Ulf talking about the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel breed that Höjdens kennel was breeding at the same time as the German shepherds dog. I found it hard accepting a small dog, I loved competing in utilitarian!!

Exhibition, no I couldn’t come to terms with it, imagine what things can change. In 1979 the first Cavalier bitch arrive to our new started family. Her name was Höjdens Quicky and two years later her first puppieswere born - Nocturnes A-litter. Their sire was an English import named Lochbuie the Saint, he was a tricolour. There were three bitches and two dogs. One of the bitches, Nocturnes Angelique, became our prefix. Whatever weare looking for it’s always here face we search for. Angelique succeeded to get one CC by the age of six. On the other hand, her half brother Biggles became Nocturnes first champion and even an International Champion and with him my interest in exhibition started. Quicky became the mother of three champions. Nocturnes Biggles, Columbus and Funny Boy.

This spurred us to get an English dog that would fit our bitches. Eva Gustavsson, Spotlines, presented me to Norma och Gordon Inglis, and in November 1987 SCh Craigowl Woodchip (GBch Craigowl Hoodwink x GBch Craigowl Cashmeer) was born. The first Craigowl dog came to Sweden a winter day in 1988. He was the sire of three more Nocturnes champions. Behind Craigowl dogs there was a whole lot of Homerbrent and it fitted well with our own lines and type of Cavaliers. One of the top winning dogs in UK was Springtide at Alansmere and in 1991 did we bought our second Craigowl dog that was sired byr him. This was SCh Craigowl Gordon. When I was in UK and got Gordon I fell in love with a lovely ruby dog, we had not thought of starting breeding whole colour dogs, but when Norma asked me if I could take him along to Sweden, I just couldn’t say no. Craigowl Cadbury (Brandy) as he was called, didn’t succeed to get that last CC for championship, but the was a lovely dog and was the sire of FinCh Nocturnes Kiss me Kate and Nocturnes Kontrabas, who are still alive.

In 1990 three bitches had litters at Craigowl, one of them staid in UK and her name was Craigowl Silkience, both of her sisters became imported to Sweden Craigowl Chantilly and Craigowl Sunsilk and became champions. The same year SCh Telvara Royal Consort was imported. After that it just went on. Under those years I was in UK plenty of times and get to know a lot of UK breeders, one of them was Pascavale and in the early 90th Pascavale Warre came to us. He was the brother of GBCh Pascavale Louis. Just a few years later SCh Pascavale Freddie Mercury arrived.I remember those things like yesterda. Without the past there can be no future.

This year, 26 years later, we have made up 26 dogs to champions, most of them with the name Nocturnes, but our imports have meant that we have been able to use the lines we started with. Many Nocturnes dogs goe back to Quicky and our latest champion Nocturnes Mors Lilla Olle is the 6th in a line from her. I could write a whole lot more pages of our Nocturnes dogs, but if I get the question which moment meant the most in our breeding it would be when Norduch Intuch Nocturnes Yes Sir I Can Bogie became Sweden’s top winner 1998 of all cavaliers and was chosen out to be best champion of champions 1999.

Next biggest was this year, when we received Cavaliersällskapets breeder price and when mine and Birgitta Östergrens book of Cavalier King Charles Spaniel was presented in the bookshops
